It is very important that you register with the doctor when you first start University, it may be the last thing on your mind but its one of the most important things you need to do.
If you wake up one day with severe gut pain and it lasts for a few days and doesn't seem to get any better and you have come to the decision that a dodgy kebab and dirty pint could not have this effect, then it is likely that you are ill and need to see a doctor. All you need to is make an appointment in the next day or so, find out what the problem is, take some medicine and your be feeling on top of the world in no time. However, if you did not make the effort to register with the doctor you will have to go through a longer process of registering before you actually get your appointment. It is certain you would prefered to register as soon as you arrive at University.
The doctors is especially important to register with if you have any long term conditions, even if no symptoms are visable. It is also good for the girls if you are on the pill and of course getting contraceptives if you are a bit shy going buying them in the shops!
Make sure that you find your University doctors and register as soon as you arrive because you just don't know when you will be ill. You will be able to find details about your University doctor from your Student Union office.
